Galen Englund — President

Galen is an expert in violent conflict research and refugee policy with nearly a decade of global experience in the field. Previously, he has developed refugee security programs with the US Dept. of Homeland Security and is currently the policy manager for humanitarian data and refugee issues at the ONE Campaign.


Michele MacMillan — Treasurer

Originally from the American Southwest desert, Michele is a security professional that specializes in displaced populations, humanitarian services, and post-conflict reconciliation. She is interested in conflict research projects that use mixed methods and developing evidence-based peace-building and humanitarian programs.


Andrea Contigiani —

Research Co-Director

Andrea Contigiani is an Assistant Professor at the Ohio State University. He studies early-stage companies, using both observational approaches and experimental methods. Outside research, he helps entrepreneurs in product design, testing, and fundraising. He received a PhD in Management from the University of Pennsylvania in Spring 2019. He also holds a BS in Business Administration from LUISS, a MS in Economics from Bocconi, a MA in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, and a MA in Statistics from the University of Pennsylvania.


Fabrizio Dell'Acqua — Research Co-Director

Fabrizio is a PhD Candidate in Management at Columbia University, focusing his research on business and public policy. He holds Master degrees in Economics from Bocconi University and London Business School and studied international relations at MGIMO, in Moscow. Fabrizio has entrepreneurial experience as the cofounder of two technology startups in Milan: the first was sold to a Dutch company; the second received €1M in funding and is currently active in 11 Italian cities.
